Fitting Guide
Posts should be set 1530mm apart centre to centre, into holes 300mm dia. and 300-450mm deep. Rails are 3 metres long, and are designed to be fitted through the morticed holes, and across 3 posts, fixed through the middle post by the screw and cap at the centre-point of the rail. The 2 rail ends are not fixed to allow for expansion and contraction inside the 2 outside posts where a gap is left between the rails of 20mm. After the rails have been inserted and the post height set, the linked posts should be set in the hole with concrete mix (wet or dry) poured into the hole and tamped down firmly whilst care is taken to ensure that the post remains vertical until set.
When 2 or more rails are required or the no of posts are not in multiple of 3 metres, they will need to be an initial or final 1/2 rail (1.5 metres) where needed to ensure that the centre rail fixing of rails in a post is always offset. The 1/2 rails should only be fixed at one end, to allow for expansion and contraction.
140mm rails should have 2 screws set one above the other, with the 2nd screw fixed after concreting to ensure that levelling of posts is accurate.
Vertical picket pails can be screwed from either the back or the front, leaving a gap ( = to a single picket pail) between pails of 70mm using 3.5mm x 50mm screws and caps.
